The Secret Room

Megan sighed wistfully. Her father had gone off to war and her mother had evacuated her. She had been sent, apparently, to a beautiful, medieval and colossal kingdom in Birmingham that her grandmother owned.  But when she reached her destination, all she found was a dusty, crooked and run down shack in the middle of a magical wood! She knocked at the front door. Nothing. She knocked again. Then, there was a humongous gust of wind and the battered door swung off it’s hinges, flew in the air and blew up! She hesitated, then went inside. From what it looked like on the outside, it was nothing like the inside. Oh no. It was like a mansion, with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, that was about 89 foot high, tapestries with men on horse back, knights killing dragons and a beautiful wood with unicorns dancing and playing on the wall. Just then an older lady, with fluorescent white hair, stepped out in front of Megan.
“Hello, dear,” she said with a soft and gentle tone. “Welcome.”
“Hello…. grandmother,” Megan stuttered, nervously.
“Hello, now I have some rules. 1. you are under no circumstances allowed in the kitchen. 2. you are no way allowed in the secret room.”
“The secret room?” interrupted Megan curiously.
“Enough about that now dear,” her grandmother said sternly.
The rules went on for hours.
One day, when Megan was pretending to go to her room,  she came across a handle in the stairs. It was in the shape of a chandelier, she heard her grandmother’s footsteps, and hauled it open. Megan climbed in and looked round. What she saw before her was a mystery. It was a small, rounded room, with a old and dusty grand piano, bookshelves piled high with books and it was like a secret library. She looked at the wall that had a circular mirror in the shape of a large amulet with two pieces of slate next to it. One piece of slate nearest to the mirror had a story about a prince being transformed into a dragon. The second one was in Latin so she could sort of read it, it looked like a type of spell to her.
She read the spell out loud and it said:
Dragon gleam and grow, let your fire be bright,
Change this naughty boy from darkness into light.
“Weird,” thought Megan.
She read the story and discovered that a prince had been transformed into a dragon because he had seriously disobeyed the queen, his mother, and only an amulet of gold and silver could release him from the spell. There was a wooden cabinet beneath the mirror and when she looked down at it, she saw a silver chain. She picked it up and it felt like dragon scales. She heard a heavy breathing behind her. She spun round and saw that a dark blue dragon with spikes up its back was hissing madly at her. Around his neck was the most beautiful golden amulet she had ever seen. It had a red pearl in the middle with a curling dark blue dragon around it. It shook its neck and the amulet fell off. He backed away to let her pick it up. She picked it up and reattached it to its chain. The dragon pointed to the spell, she knew what she had to do. She read the spell with the amulet around the dragon’s neck. As soon as she had finished, the dragon got lifted up into the air by a whirlwind and was spinning right round in circles. When he landed he was a young prince with dark blue robes and dark black hair.
“Hello,” he said, “Thank you for saving me.”
“That’s fine,” said Megan sighing deeply, “You must come and meet my grandmother.”
They both laughed heartily and left the secret room hand in hand.

Chopstick the Diving Guinea Pig

Chopstick was a sweet little guinea pig. Although his owner was very crazy, at least he had a friend called Ginger. Her coat was orange with white patches, while Chopstick’s coat was white and ginger with black patches.

One day the Brosnan family went swimming. They didn’t have a bag to put all the swimming gear into, so they put it into the pet carrier. Unfortunately they didn’t see Chopstick jump into the pet carrier! When they got to the swimming pool they got changed into their swimsuits and jumped in. They left the pet carrier on the side of the pool. Chopstick scurried out and scampered up the steps to the diving-board. He hurried along the diving-board and looked over the side. The pool was deep and he could se people splashing and swimming. He took a deep breath and jumped in. He did a backwards flip and landed with a PLOP! Straight in the water! As he came up for air he heard clapping. He spun round and there, cheering loudly, was his family. Lucy, Chopstick’s owner, dived in. She lifted him out of the water and swam to the edge of the pool, putting a shivering Chopstick on the side.

Days passed and the Brosnans took time to look at TV shows for diving pets, but they only found one. It was called ‘Diving Greatness (for pets).’ They phoned the number on the screen and entered Chopstick into the competition. While this was all happening Ginger and Chopstick were munching guinea pig food and Chopstick told Ginger all about that day.

“You know what Ginger, I think I am a diving guinea pig!”

“I think you’re right Chopstick,” replied Ginger happily.

The day of the diving competition arrived.

“This is it Chop, the water is calling you, it’s your time to shine,” encouraged Lucy’s mum.

“It’s your turn,” Lucy squealed excitedly.

Lucy stepped onto the stage with Chopstick in her hands. The presenter announced,

“This is Wilma Wolf! Yes that was an amazing dive, well done Wilma!”

“Now it’s Derid Mouse. Wow an excellent dive from Derid!”

“Finally, at number three, it’s Chopstick the guinea pig.”

Chopstick took a deep breath and dived. He did a triple backflip and a tuck and landed neatly in the water. He came up for air and swam to the side. The crowd were going wild! He looked at the scores and saw that they were:

          10                         10                         10

“Awesome dive from Chopstick!!” cried the presenter.

“These are the winners. In third place is...Wilma Wolf. In second place is...Derid Mouse. So you all know who is in first place...IT’s CHOPSTICK THE GUINEA PIG!!!!!”

The crowd went wild. Chopstick had won!!!!!!

The Mine

Chapter 1
I've had a busy day today, I've finally done my GCSES! I had to do my homework and tidy the whole boat! We live on a boat, me and my dad. Mum's been gone for 4 years now. We don't know were shes gone, but all we know is she went on holiday to China. Dad's been worrying for the last 4 years now.
I kept worrying about mum as I wrote my diary. Just then the door of my cabin opened and dad popped his head round the door and whispered,
"Are you ready?"
"Almost," I replied cheerfully.
As he shut the door, I cheered,
"YIPPEE!!!!"
I had totally forgotten about my walk in the woods. Dad said he didn't want to come in case mum came.
"Here we are, Calvin Woods," smiled dad, "I'll come and pick you up at 4.15 OK Alice?"
"Sure," I smiled back.
As I was walking down the foot path, I saw a wooden door way. I looked it up and down.
"What is this?" I said out loud even though I was on my own.
I decided to find out.
Chapter 2
In my wellies I slopped through the water on the floor, until I came to a iron gate. I gently nudged it and it swung open. It had a bend in the corner, so I climbed through the gate and turned the corner. What I saw before me took my breath away. A city! It had cars bustling about, round about 30 odd buildings and people everywhere! I saw a sign above the tallest building and this is what it said,
                                                Welcome to Ashlington Town
I stared bewildered. We had learnt in science about a mine that had a city inside, but I had not believed it. It all sounded like another one of Mrs.Cal's old tales. Mrs.Cal is the cook on our boat and she goes shopping for sweets for me. She's very nice. Suddenly I heard shouting and screaming. I looked down and now the people were miniature!
"What's the matter?" I asked.
"Go away!" screamed a little girl.
I didn't want to harm them so I clambered back out of the mine. I ran back to the entrance of the wood and Dad was waiting there for me.
"You've been a long time, where have you been?" he said looking surprised.
He drove us back to the boat and I collapsed on my bed.
"Are you OK?" asked Dad
"Yeah fine, just a bit tired," I replied.

The Footprint

Once upon a time a girl called Rachael was walking on the beach when she saw a tiny weeny little footprint.
"Wow!" exclaimed Rachael. (This was a very rare beach in Yorkshire, so nobody ever visited)
She crouched down and very gently she touched it. It didn't feel like sand, but it felt smooth like metal! She touched it again. This time she didn't feel the smooth metal type feel, or the sand sort of feel, but a rough, skin like feel. She thought that it felt like rhino skin. She was getting suspicious now. Was this playing tricks on her? She decided to find out. Rachael put her foot in the footprint and thought of where she would go. Suddenly she felt a surging, red hot pain in her leg. That leg was attached to her foot that she put in the footprint. Rachael quickly, in a nick of time, lifted her leg out of the footprint.
"What?" gasped Rachael, clutching her leg in pain.
She suddenly noticed that there was a long, black, thin thing on another footprint, just ahead of her footprint! She secretly ran over to have a look and try to identify what it was.  Her mum and dad were marine biologists and had taught Rachael how to identify fish and sea creatures.
"I know what this is!" squealed Rachael in delight, "an electric eel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She screamed and ran frantically back home. When she got home she clambered up her stairs and collapsed in her bed. She fell asleep in about 10 minutes.

Fairy Love

Fairy Love
Chapter 1- The Clearing
Nectar was a honey fairy. She had dark brown hair and green eyes. Her best hobbies were riding butterflies and painting with lavender brushes, and the paint was made from coloured water drops. She lived in an oak tree in a wood called Magic Wood.
Her best friend was called Ash. Ash was an elf. He helped deliver the honey from the fairies. Ash had blue eyes and light brown hair. He lived next door to Nectar.
One day Nectar got some bad news, her mother was ill! When she got home she flew as fast as her wings could carry her to her mother’s room and quietly pushed open the door. There was her mother on her bed fast asleep. Nectar left the room quietly and quickly so that her mother would not wake up. When she got back outside she flew around the clearing (where she lived) hoping to find Ash. Ash was standing next to the oak tree sucking some sweets.
Chapter 2- The Journey Begins
“What are you sucking Ash?” asked Nectar.
”I am sucking some honey drops, want one?” replied Ash.
”Yes please,” said Nectar. Nectar took one out of the bag and popped it in her mouth. ”Mmm,” she murmured.
“They’re from mum, she brought them for me, but we can share them,” smiled Ash, taking another out of the bag. ”So, what brought you here?” asked Ash.
”Well my mum is ill, and she’s asleep, so I can’t ask if I can go to the park.” “Ok.” Said Ash thoughtfully, “I have an idea. I heard at the doctor’s that to make a fairy or an elf better you have to give them honey.”
”Great,” cheered Nectar, “Let’s get going!”
So Nectar and Ash flew as fast as their wings could carry them. Soon they were flying over hills, fields then they were flying over mountains and roof tops.
Chapter 3- Spooky Spiders
Nectar and Ash were soon in a dark forest. “What do we do now?” asked Nectar.
”I don’t know,” whispered Ash. Suddenly there was a loud shriek.
”What was that?” said Nectar sounding worried.
“It sounded like something big,” whispered Ash. They flew over to the place where the shriek came from and there was a massive spider! Then from out of nowhere came three more spiders. Luckily they were smaller, but they were still quite big.
”RUN!” Shouted Ash. Suddenly the spiders awoke from their dreams and screeched. Nectar and Ash flew over the spiders heads, out of reach. Finally they flew away into the sunlight.
Chapter 4 -Ghostly Ghosts
“I’m tired,” moaned Nectar.
 “Yes, let’s stop,” said Ash.
 “Wooooooo!” went a noise.
 “What was that?” asked Nectar.
“I don’t know,” said Ash, worried about something that was going to happen to his best friend. The noise got louder, “WOOOoooo!” and louder “WOOOOOOO.” Then out of the distance came two massive ghosts!
“RUN!” shouted Nectar. The two friends flew as fast as their wings could carry them, over the ghosts’ heads and away into the moonlight.
 “Which way?” asked Nectar.
“Um…left, no right, oh now I remember... straight on,” smiled Ash. They flew straight on like Ash had said and found a mirror in the way.
“Let’s go through it.” shuddered Ash. He had not thought about this. They flew into the mirror.
Chapter 5- The Mirror Maze
“Where are we?” asked Nectar curiously.
“You are in a mirror maze,” said a voice. Ash and Nectar swung round, and saw a creepy looking angel with black wings and a creepy smile. “My name is Creepy Angel,” said the angel.
“No wonder he is so creepy,” said Nectar in a timid kind of voice.
“Everyone calls me creepy,” cried the angel.
“Don’t cry” Said Nectar kindly.
”As you are being so nice I will show you the way,” stammered Creepy Angel. He floated around the maze like he was lost. Finally he stopped and said” Here you are, go through the mirror and wish yourself to where you want to go.”
“Now go and never return,” and he disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
“Come on Ash, let’s go through the mirror!” squealed Nectar. So they flew through the mirror together holding hands.
Chapter 6 Happy times
When Ash and Nectar had come through the mirror there was two little bags, full with honey! “Grab them Ash!” called Nectar, grabbing one of the bags.
She chucked it to Ash who caught it. Nectar picked up the other one and grabbing Ash’s arm she pulled it towards another mirror. They ran through the mirror and found themselves back at the clearing!
Nectar turned round and saw little elves and fairies jumping up and down saying “Hip, Hip, hooray, hip, hip, hooray!”
Nectar looked at Ash and said, “Let’s go give this to my mum.”
They raced up the stairs to Nectar’s mum’s room and quietly pushed on the door. It made a sort of creaking noise. Ash and Nectar tiptoed up to the bed, and poured the honey down the throat of Nectar’s mum. She started to cough and sat up. “My dears, what have you been doing?”
“We have been adventuring,” laughed Ash. Just then a little elf ran up to Ash and Nectar and said “Hello, my name is Jack and I just wanted to say you’ve been away for three years. That means you are now adults, you could get together and be husband and wife.”
Both thought this was a good idea. So two days later the wedding bells were ringing and they were made from lavender. Soon they were husband and wife. Nectar had one girl and two boys. The girl was called Lavender and the boys names were Hawthorn and Acorn.
They all became strong and tough.
